Revolutionaries
(Details on the 2009 camp coming soon)
During AREA1:camps we will challenge students to start a relationship with Jesus Christ if they do not have one. The challenge for students that already follow Christ will be to consider what it means to live for Christ or put another way, be the church rather than just attending church.
When we share the gospel we do not do emotional alter calls... we present the facts and trust students to make a decision and that God's word won't return void. We do work to create opportunities for you and your youth team to minister to your students. Should you be short on adult volunteers the AreaOne staff will be available to assist you.
FAQs
• Can adult volunteers and chaperones attend with the students?
You bet! AreaOne camps are designed to strengthen the relationships
between the youth workers and students. There are no "counselors" as in
a traditional camp. The AreaOne staff is focused on creating the best,
most spiritually effective camp so you can focus on your students.
• I would like my kids to attend but they wouldn't be with a youth group. Can they come?
Sure, While our Ohio camp is staffed with counselors our Missouri camp
isn't at this time. However, what we have done for several years is to
pair individual students with attending youth groups that we have built
relationships with. In this way they get to participate in everything
as well as a youth group.
• What denomination are you and are you backed a church? AreaOne
is an evangelical interdenominational ministry in that we work with
many denominations. We are not supported by any one church. We are
supported by individuals who are invested in seeing Bible believing,
Christ centered ministries thrive. Attending AreaOne will be Baptist,
Methodist, C.P., Anglican, Presbyterian, Charismatic and
Non-denominational churches. What we're best at is creating catalyst
events that support your ministry by focusing on the fundamental
foundation of our faith. We make room for the distinctiveness of
denominations and avoid ordinances of the church.
• What's your theology specifically on baptism and the holy spirit? This is a great question and we love it when people ask because we are passionate about scripture, biblical worldview training and seeing teenagers meet Christ for the first time. We do not baptize or take communion at AreaOne because we are not a church and we view these as ordinances of the local church. If your church wants to do this we will help make it happen as we do every year for churches. Click here for a more detailed look at our theology and feel free to call the President, Kiley Butler at 888.GOAREA1 ext 1.
What is your evangelism philosophy? Do you do long drawn out alter calls?
No...
We do present the Gospel of Jesus Christ very clearly and we do create
opportunities for students to respond in different ways. However, the
long, never ending alter call isn't our style. Our philosophy is to
present the
truth as powerfully and effectivelly as we can and expect the students
to make up
their own minds as to wether they will follow Christ.
What are the youth pastor and church volunteers spiritual role at AreaOne camps?
At AreaOne, we view our role as secondary to yours. Our heart is to
create an environment where you can focus on ministering to your
students. When all the details of event planning and execution are
taken off your plate it frees you and your team up to focus on your
students. If you are short on adults and need help ministering to your
students we will be there to back you up in any way you desire.
What if I have some additional students that want to come to camp and it's the day camp is supposed to start?
No
problem... assuming we have bed space avaliable we will be happy to
work it out so that they can participate. While we have to have
deadlines, our experience is that the students that most need to be at
camp are the ones that sign up at the last minute. We will do
everything in our power to help you get as many students to camp.
